Genmaicha is a Japanese green tea blended with roasted brown rice — sometimes called “popcorn tea” because a few rice grains pop during roasting, and historically known as “people’s tea” as the rice reduced the cost of the blend.
High-grade sencha leaves bring a fresh, grassy character, while the toasted rice adds a warm, nutty sweetness and a light caramel aroma. The result is a mild, easy-drinking cup with a light golden hue — unique, delicious, and a must-try for green tea lovers.
