Premium Pingshui Gunpowder green tea leaves from the Zhejiang Province, China — the birthplace of Gunpowder tea, with a history stretching back to the Tang Dynasty (618–907 AD), it is one of China's oldest green teas — its name coined, legend has it, by an English clerk who thought the tiny hand-rolled pellets looked uncannily like gunpowder.
Harvested only in April and May, when the leaves are at their finest, it is denser than most green teas and a little goes a long way.
After plucking, the leaves are withered to reduce moisture, then steamed and hand-rolled into their signature tight pellets. This rolling locks in freshness, protects the leaf, and seals the aroma until the moment of brewing.
