A small pile of Kenyan Sencha green tea leaves on a white background

Sencha is Japan's most popular green tea style — and this is a Kenyan take on that classic. Grown on the Kosabei estate in the Nandi Highlands of Kenya, select plots share a similar soil pH to traditional sencha-growing regions in Shizuoka, Japan. Bushes cultivated in these areas are harvested and processed using the traditional Japanese method: steamed immediately after picking to prevent oxidation, then rolled, shaped, and dried.

The result is a bright, smooth cup, distinctly sencha in character, with Kenya's own influence woven through. A refreshing green tea that can be enjoyed any time of day.

The Kosabei Tea Estate is also the source of our Kenyan Kosabei TGFOP — a tea garden with a well-established reputation for quality leaves.
