A small pile of dried mao jian green tea leaves on a white background

A good first green tea for those who normally drink black tea, Mao Jia Congou is a green tea from Yunnan Province, China, with an unusually approachable character. Unlike most green teas, the leaves are briefly fermented during processing, giving them a darker hue and a smooth yet pleasantly pungent flavour — closer in body to a light black tea than a typical green.

The silver tips visible in the dry leaf are a mark of selective harvesting — only new shoots are plucked, gathered daily to ensure freshness and quality.
